I would like to say thank you for your help with Joe. After having a predicted grade C in GCSE last year, he has just managed an A* in his exam. I am sure you have a significant part to play in this.
I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. We were a happy bunch who immediately got on well together, trying our French on each other as well as any opportunities in restaurants and transport! Lille was very friendly, the student bar we discovered for a pastis aperitif gave us a warm welcome. Good choice of restaurants for local food. Thank you for a great experience.
I thought the ten “students”, their tutor and partner made up a very diverse group that got on really well. Variously, we practiced our French for a whole two days. Lille is certainly “worth a visit” as they say in the Michelin travel guides with so much to see. The visit to the LAM art museum entailed travel by both Metro and bendy-bus, furthering our French adventure. The spiritualist “art brut” by Crespin, Lesage and Simon seemed similar to what might adorn a Hindu or Buddhist temple. The visit certainly provoked discussion. Eating at the Alcide bistro, the creperie and the café at the museum was a further part of the French experience. Thank you Sandrine!
